There’s no better way to start this post than to say that I had the most lovely day with my sister, who flew over from London this past weekend for the Amsterdam Marathon. I’ve just been having the best time with visitors in Amsterdam, like my mom a few weeks ago and two friends from Montreal. I love showing people ‘my’ Amsterdam. So of course, a day with my sister included a stop at the Noordermarkt (how great are these roses? They’re like roses wrapped in salad leaves)…
We spotted other great finds, like pottery and prints…
And old photographs…
And canvas bags made out of old suit jackets…
Gotta love sunny Saturday afternoons in the Jordaan…
And we headed back to Two For Joy Coffee Roasters on the Haarlemmerdijk for a quick lunch…
Lunch consisted of a hummus and grilled vegetable wrap and a lentil soup, both were delicious. And a latte, of course.
From there we biked down through the Vondelpark to the TASCHEN store (see Amsterdam Insights) on the P.C. Hoofstraat, and then to the Foam Pop-In on Museumplein (for those who know me, this sign just about sums up all my favorite things)…
And we had to make a pit stop at Frozz (see Amsterdam Insights)…
Before heading to Monki on the Kalverstraat for a little shopping (how beautiful is headband my sister’s wearing in the picture below?)
And then to the American Book Center on Spui to browse the beautiful collection of design/photography/art books on display…
It was so wonderful. That evening we watched one of my favorite movies, When Harry Met Sally (that’s where the title of this post is from, if you were wondering). There are certain parts of the movie that just make me laugh out loud, still. Can’t wait to visit this little one in London in a few weeks!
