singel 404 (amsterdam)

Oh Singel 404… If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, or just since the summer, you might have heard me mention this little sandwich place before. I’ve taken many people here: my boyfriend in the summer, my sister and her friends, and my mom just recently. It’s honestly one of my favorite places, right by school, right by the Spui and the Leidsestraat shopping street, on Singel…

Singel 404 is popular amongst students, and you’ll often find yourself waiting 10-15 minutes for a table (outside along the canal if you’re lucky!) but it’s definitely worth it…

For the price you pay, the sandwiches are heavy-duty and absolutely delicious (as you can tell from the photograph below). I also recommend their soup (I once had a hearty tomato soup served with a large slice of fresh brown bread that was so tasty) and their mixed-berry fruit smoothies, mmmm!

Singel 404 is open daily from 10.30am-6pm, but don’t say I didn’t warn you about long lines/slower service around lunch hours (12-2pm). I’d opt for a late lunch instead! For more Amsterdam eats, why not try Bazar, on the Albert Cuypstraat, or IJScuypje, the ice cream chain? The Saturday markets, Noordermarkt and Nieuwmarkt also have great biological produce, worth checking out. Click here for more Amsterdam Insights, published every Wednesday.
