Brera is one of my favorite districts in Milan. Why? The thing I love to do the most when visiting a city is to flâner (stroll), comme les Parisiens. I honestly think the best way to get to know a city is to wander aimlessly through its streets. In doing so, I discovered that the Brera district, just north of the Duomo, has narrow streets lined with nice apartment buildings – these apartment buildings often have expensive boutiques and artsy shops on the ground floor. You will also find streets lined with charming cafes and restaurants, great for a late afternoon cappucino or an evening meal of Milanese risotto. The Brera is also where you’ll find the Pinacoteca Brera, one of Milan’s art museums, and a place that I have devoted a photoessay to, coming up shortly!
