Photoessay: Canal St. Martin.

Bonjour Paris! My mom and I arrived at Paris Nord on Tuesday morning, after taking the 9am Thalys train from Rotterdam Central Station. We had rented an apartment with Apartment Paris, but couldn’t get the keys till after 1pm. We walked from Paris Nord to the boulangerie, Du Pain et des Idées. I had seen a review by David Leibovitz on his blog, and had heard that it was one of the best bakeries in Paris. We bought a few mini breads, called mini-pavés, filled with delicious combos like honey-feta and chèvre-spinach, and of course, the un escargot chocolat-pistache, a snail-shaped pastry filled with chocolate and pistachio (I had seen this on the NYTimes). We took our lunch and walked to the Canal St. Martin

And this is the chocolate and pistachio pastry, absolutely delicious…

I love the light in these photographs, I’m so happy with them. It was a great beginning to our few days in Paris… many more photographs to come! And click here for photographs of Canal St. Martin that I took last summer.
