Last week, my mom came up to Amsterdam to visit me for an evening, and I took her to several new and several familiar places, including the Stedelijk Museum (and the book sale), the Haarlemmerstraat/Haarlemmerdijk (more about this in next weeks’ Amsterdam Insights) and this restaurant, Bazar, one of my favorites…

This former church, now an Arabic-kitsch café, is one of the glories of Albert Cuyp Market. For an idea of what they offer, click here for the menu.

And their unbelievably delicious homemade falafel served with pita and a garlic sauce…
